I've never used one of these 49:1 baluns before. Looking for a simple and easy-to-deploy antenna for 80 meters. Doesn't have to be a DX wonder. If I add another 66 feet of wire, making it ~132 feet, can I use the EFHW kit on 80 meters? de Tim WA5MD, Dallas |

Yes, the EFHW transformer is designed to cover 80 through 10 meters. https://www.hfkits.com/build-instruction-impedance-transformer-250w-for-end-fed-antennas/ The manufacturer suggests adding a coil instead of doubling the wire length. A half wave of wire should work well as a single band 80 meter antenna. But, since the harmonic resonances move up in frequency, the simple long wire doesn't work so great as a multiband antenna.
