I have a 2m Diamond vertical antenna of 1995 vintage. Fiberglass body, 8' tall. I know I need to ground the radio itself, but what are the recommendations for grounding the antenna - or is it necessary? The manual that came with the antenna doesn't address its grounding. Is the antenna grounded through the coax shielding to the radio itself? Thank you for any advice! |

National Electrical Code 810 addresses grounding. If you prefer pictures to words Tom W8JI has a web page on grounding that discusses different options. https://www.w8ji.com/house_ground_layouts.htm We also sell a book on grounding by Ward N0AX http://www.arrl.org/grounding-and-bonding-for-the-amateur Zak W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |
