I used to be quite active on the air but have been off for many years. I used to use a KAM+ with my FT-1000 on RTTY, AMTOR and PACTOR. I get the impression that not all these are in use any more. Can anyone get me up to speed on current digital operating, please? Is the KAM+ still good to use or do I need to try something different.

Thanks for any suggestions.

There is a ton of activity on FT8 using WSJT. There are often two bands at any given time with significant activity at my station.

It is a soundcard mode. You just need a PC with a soundcard and a suitable interface to the radio. A ten year old Win 7 can run it, but you ought to use something newer.

The biggest issue that is new for you is you need to set the clock accurately. Usually via an Internet Time Server. Win 10 can be set to do this and it works most of the time.
