Keys have knurled nuts which can be loosened by hand for the connection of wires to a transmitter. Zak W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |

https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/straight-key-hookup-to-1-8-phone-jack-and-wiring.525734/ Alternately, get a stereo plug with 3 wires attached that fit into the key jack of the radio. Short the wires together until you find the ones that properly keys the radio. Attach these two wires to the straight key. Some radios require that you choose the right menu setting, There may be separate settings for "keyer" and "straight key." If your radio outputs "dits" or "dahs" instead of a steady tone you need to find that menu. Be careful with vintage tube gear. Many1960s or earlier vintage radios have dangerous voltages on the key jack. Times were different. Zak Lau W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |
