RF TRIPS UPS

Just recently developed a problem where RF is tripping my UPS. 90+% of the time it is on 80m and the power level can be anywhere from 400-800w. I have ferrite just about anywhere I can think of. The 80m antenna performs well and matches out to 1:1. Sometimes it is just a trip and if I catch it soon enough I can lower power and it comes back. Sometimes it just shuts down the entire UPS. |

In order for ferrite to be effective at 4MHz you need a number of turns or a lot of beads. 17 turns on a large toroid is a good compromise across the HF spectrum Zak W1VT ARRLSenior Lab Engineer |
