Will digital voice modes via 'Multi Mode Digital Voice Modem' (MMDVM) Amateur built simplex hotspots through the Internet (or AREDN) to another MMDVM Amateur built simplex hotspot *without* any Repeaters being involved count as Field Day 2018 contacts? If they do, as pure digital (except for the RF between the radio and hotspot) is each contact one or two points? Would all battery and power level multipliers be in effect for radios & hotspots running only on battery power? With the thought of increasing participation in Field Day - If these contacts do not count in 2018, will they count in 2019? TIA & 73, wl7coo |

The rules don't explicitly address this, but as Field Day is (primarily) an emergency preparedness test, I would expect that any QSOs that depend on a functioning internet would not be valid for points. 73, Mark AI4BJ |
