For fun I thought I would bring my hand held with me on a cruise around New Zealand. Just for fun, I wanted to make a contact or two with anyone wishing to exchange greetings. I looked for repeaters, which are quite a few and can see the frequencies and their system for offset but nowhere could I find info on Tone used. I looked under CTCSS or PL and saw nothing. Has anyone had any experience with this? Any idea who might be able to guide me? I leave Saturday so I'm probably a "dollar short."
Thanks,
Bob

This map shows just one repeater with a CTSS tone. Tones aren't as necessary on islands hundreds of miles away from Continents as co-channel interference between machines may be nonexistent.

The repeater on the island of Guam has no CTCSS or PL tone.
