On 7/15 about UTC 22:00 there was some sort of contest going on that wouldn't decode on any Fldigi mode.

On the watefall it was a little thinner than Olivis 4/125 but sounded like it.

Is this a new mode?

There were a mess of station running it.

Most likely FT8, a faster version of JT65. It is in beta release right now. The faster contact completion mode allows contacts to be made despite brief band openings, such as double hop E skip. I used it this weekend to work Arizona and Washington on 6M E skip from Connecticut.

I've never made a JT-65 contact above 17 metres with my ATAS-120 antenna. over 2 years. How would I know when it is worthwhile chasing stuff on 6 meters?

Monitor dStar or something?
