It looks like the new contest committee is made up of HF operators that don't understand propagation at UHF through Microwave. I believe it has been a Gross mistake to cancel the fall uhf contest. 1. The BEST propagation for UHF/Microwave is in August and September ! 2.Only in the Fall months E,F2, Ducting propagation is ENHANCED ! I have been operating on 222,432,902/903,1296 MHz and 447 thz (Laser) for several years. CW and SSB are my preferred modes although I often use FM for normal operating and contests... I have WAS, WAC, VUCC on 50 MHz ! VUCC on 222. 432 and 1296 Mhz !! Please Reinstate Fall UHF CONTEST !! 73 NQ8A |

NQ8A, Very impressive, good work! The Contest Committee has not set anything in stone yet, as far as I could tell from what was published on our web site. Members have until June 15th to submit comments. This was posted April 15th: http://www.arrl.org/news/arrl-vhf-contest-revitalization-committee-calls-for-comments-on-proposed-uhf-and-up-event I strongly suggest for you to write to the committee the comments you have expressed here. The committee does not work on its own; they rely on input from Radio Amateurs, especially someone like you who have spent a lot of effort and time, pushing the envelope. Bob Allison WB1GCM ARRL Lab |
