QST Discone antenna

The discone antenna in the QST in Green Valley Az is the one I actually used in 1969 as I was on a Titan launch crew at assigned to that site for 3 years. When not using it for checkin with Skyking, I would go to the 20mtr band and listen. One night I used it to work a ham pilot in a commerical plane over the pacific. I left the combat crew in 1970. We worked 24 on and 48 off during the month. Great memories....just glad we never had to use it! WA7KCA |
