I had my application for a vanity call that had a "canceled" status and had an "expired" date in January dismissed by the FCC. There was no reason given on line last Sunday only that it was dismissed so I applied a second time. It has been three years since the holder canceled his call. What are the regulations on acquiring a previously held call sign? Thanks After slogging thru the FCC web site I found that the call sign I want was surrendered in Feb of 2012 when the licensee requested another vanity call. Two weeks later he surrendered his new call for yet another vanity call. I guess the 2 year FCC clock started ticking in Feb not Jan even though its status showed expired in Jan. GEEZ! clear as mud. |

I have an answer. After calling the FCC I was told their 2 year hold on issuing abandoned calls starts with the cancellation date, not the expiration date. |
