The Matsu Borough is 25,258 square miles, a little larger than the state of Virginia. It goes from the Denali Park Area south to Palmer over to Sutton/Chickaloon area to the Eklutna Area. The Club webpage is www.kl7jfu.com. The club conducts license classes and VE sessions. MATSU ARES Group interfaces with & supports MATSU Emergency Services, local Agencies and local CERTs teams. We conduct several Emergency preparedness fairs and support the local boy scout and girl scout groups and various dog mushing events, triathlon and charity walks or bike races during the year. MATSU ARES information can be found on www.kl7jft.org website. The club has 2 communications trailers, one a complete comm center with ham vhf and HF, 220, 6 meters (both analog and digital), DMR, marine, CB, aviation and Emergency Services ALMR equipment and the other is a support trailer with a 35' tower and diesel generator. We can operate battery, battery/small generator or with the support trailer an 8 1/2 KW Kubuto Generator. We have club go kits for deployment of teams as required as well as several of our members have their own go kits for both VHF and HF operations. The club also has operating positions in the Borough Mobile Communication Van. The club’s repeaters are on 146.85, 103.5 Minus Shift and packet node on 147.96 and DMR system located in Wasilla 443.800 plus shift, CC1, Slot1. The Clubs Emcomm Winlink VHF node is located on 145.190 in the PalmerWasilla Area, KL7JFT-10. We have the use of the southcentral repeaters on 147.30, 147.33, 146.67, and 147.18. The club primary operators have just completed the new AUXCOM course and prepping our newer operators for the next one. Our annual Hamfest is held in early May. The club conducts monthy VE sessions on the 4th Saturday of every month at the local Wasilla Senior Citizen Campus. Our Annual Meeting and Elections are held at the October meeting.
