Description:

Welcome to the Johnson County Radio Amateurs Club (JCRAC), one of the most active clubs in the Kansas City metro area. The club holds two meetings a month on Fridays where we share radio experiences, educate and enjoy the fellowship of other Ham's in our community.

The JCRAC operates several repeaters. Our 2-meter repeater is located near the Johnson County Public Library at 87th and Antioch. This repeater transmits on a frequency of 145.290 MHz with a standard 600 kHz negative offset. A 151.4 Hz tone is required for access. The transmitter also transmits a 151.4 Hz tone for CTCSS operation. It can also operate as a mixed mode stand-alone DMR repeater.

The club also operates another 2-meter repeater located near Shawnee Mission Parkway and 65th Street. This repeater transmits on 145.210 with a standard negative 600 KHz offset. A 151.4 Hz tone is required for access. The transmitter transmits a 151.4 Hz tone for CTCSS operation. It can operate as a mixed mode stand-alone DMR repeater.

The club’s 220 repeater is the oldest active 220 repeater in the Kansas City area (went on the air November 1, 1976). It is located near Shawnee Mission Parkway and 65th street. It transmits on 223.940 MHz with a standard negative 1.6 MHz offset. A 151.4 Hz tone is required for access. The transmitter transmits a 151.4 Hz tone for CTCSS operation.

The club operates two UHF Yaesu Fusion digital repeaters. One repeater is located near Shawnee Mission Parkway and 65th Street. It transmits on the frequency of 442.600 MHz. The other repeater transmits on the frequency of 443.725 MHz and is located near College Blvd and Lamar. These two repeaters use a standard positive 5 MHz offset in either DN (preferred) or VW digital mode. These two repeaters are permanently connected to the Yaesu Fusion Kansas City Room via Wires X.

The club operates a weekly Wheat Shocker Net every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM on the 442.600 and 443.725 repeaters on the Fusion Kansas City Room. A weekly Wheat Shocker Net is also conducted every Thursday evening at 7:00 PM on the 145.290 repeater. These are open nets and we invite all licensed amateurs to join us.

Each Member receives a copy of the monthly club Feedback newsletter which is full of ham and club related information. This is a great benefit to members! The club is involved in various public service events and many members are involved in other public service associated programs such as A.R.E.S., E.C.S. and SATERN.

The Club also has a team of Volunteer Examiners to provide license testing for all ham radio license classes.
