SPECIAL EVENT

A team of 8 operators from RAWNY will activate the Motor Island Wildlife Management Area (Motor Island), located in the Niagara River in Erie County, NY. Given the designation NY049 by the U.S. Islands Awards Program, Motor Island is located just south of Grand Island, NY (NY001R) and is considered a protected wildlife refuge. The team will be running totally remote using batteries and various portable antennas with a power output of 50 watts or less. Special permission to activate the island has been granted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and this will be a ONE-DAY only event. After this, no other amateur radio presence will be allowed on the island. The team will attempt to have four stations on the air simultaneously from 40 - 15 meters (conditions permitting) using the club call W2PE. QSL with a SASE and a business-sized envelope.
