The Ohio Valley Experimenters Club, or OVEC, is a club focused on radio, antenna, and RF experimentation. We, as members of OVEC, aren't happy with an antenna setup just because we finished building it, it can always be better and that's where experimentation comes into play! Along with contest operations, we also like to experiment with commercial radios and digital voice modes like DMR and P25.

The club was first formed in 2009 by K9MUL and N8FAA, and was primarily active around field day when all 4 members would rally for the festivities. Generally, Field Day operations would be hosted at K9MUL's yard until 2012 when we lost Kevin to illness. 2013, 2014, and 2015 operations were hosted by it's other founding member N8FAA, until 2016 arrived..

2016 was a busy year for the KD8LBS Group. It's members decided to kick it into high gear and make KD8-POUNDS great again. With the addition of new members and a revitalized spirit of experimentation, the club has worked around the clock to get everything ready for Field Day and beyond.

Since then we have been busier than ever! We have a UHF club repeater in Southwest Ohio and an APRS digipeater. We host a weekly net on Thursday for all hams to join in! Our membership has grown significantly and while we are based in Southwest Ohio, we have members from all over. If you think this is the club for you, contact us for more information.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and we fund our club activities by printing custom made ID badges at Hamvention in Xenia and at various hamfests around the Cincinnati area. Come see us for a custom made badge!
