We will be doing our second on the ship event for the Boy Scouts of America Birthday. The Birthday of Scouting is in February but it is a little chilly on the ship in February. The Massasoit Amateur Radio Association and other area clubs will be serving as Radiomen (operators) on the ship from 0900EST to 1600EST we hope to have 6 stations on the air for this event on 2M, 10M, 20M, 40M, and CW on 80M using the ships original equipment for 80M.

We will operate from 0900 CDT to 1500 CDT on April 30, 2016. Remembering Sultana On April 27, 1865, towards the end of the Civil War, the steamboat Sultana exploded and sank while traveling up the Mississippi River, killing an estimated 1,700 people. The event remains the worst maritime disaster in US history (the sinking of the Titanic claimed 1,512 souls). Although this disaster took a huge toll, few know the story of the Sultana's sinking.
