The Battle of Camden occurred August 16, 1780 in the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War. Even though a loss for the Patriots, this battle proved that the Revolutionary forces could stand up to the best trained soldiers in the world at that time. It wasn't long before Nathanael Greene was promoted to General of the Continental Army in the South having a hand in an important victory at Cowpens, SC. He then had a hand in expelling the British from Camden after the Battle of Hopkirk's Hill, also near Camden in April, 1781. info@kc4rc.com
