2018 ARRL January VHF Contest
This contest was a good test of my home station in DM13. I recently completed a tower mounted transverter system which added the 6 bands from 902 to 10 GHz. Thanks to the well equiped rover stations of N6NB, W6TE, K6MI and N6MTS, we made contacts on 10 bands (6M to 10 GHz) as they moved through several Southern California grids. The station checked out flawlessly.
Other than the rovers, activity was low. On 6M, I picked up a few extra Qs and grids using MSK144 and FT8.
Best DX on 10 GHz was N6RMJ, a path of 69 miles crossing over the 8K foot San Gabriel Mountains. I also enjoyed working K6TDI on 902 FM, a 37 mile obstructed path. Terry was using a 2W HT. The noise level on 902 (part 15 devices) made the contact challenging.
