2009 ARRL Field Day
The group operated on Solar Power for a little while, there was a demonstration of ATV, a training/recruitment session with the Red Cross ECRV (Emergency Communications Response Vehicle)with Joe Getlein, W1FAI and lots of visitors, young and old!
The wives contributed lots of sweet goodies to the cause and some other homecooked goodies.
The GOTA station served its purpose and allowed young folks, new hams and inactive hams a chance to operate the radio some.
The local press stopped by to interview participants and to take photographs. Local politicians who were invited stopped by to take in the activities along with local area firefighters, law enforcement and emergency management folks.
Many thanks go to those that worked very hard getting the place set up, those that stayed the full time and those that coached the GOTA Station. So many hours go into planning something of this magnitude and I as a participant cannot thank those that made this years field day a success enough.
To those others out there, I hope that your field day was as much fun as ours! I know it must have been!
