Field Day 2008 was another GREAT success for the Russell Co. (VA) Amateur Radio Club, Inc. We were at a new location for us this year. We chose Slate's Campground near Honaker, Va. for our Field Day spot. It was a beautiful setting right beside a creek with a nice shelter, a grill to cook on and restroom facilities (we weren't roughing that much were we???). We had our 50 foot military tower with brand new Hy-Gain beam for 10/15/20 meters which worked great, Yaesu FT840, ICOM 706s and various other rigs and wire and vertical antennas. Al Keen-N4ZZQ (RCARC, Inc. club President) had his newly constructed portable HF/VHF station on display and in use. Al used a dual band Kenwood, ICOM HF rig and other tuners and accessories for his station. Don Baldwin-KD4JTK (club treasurer) was our chief cook and bottle washer. Great job on the grill Don!!! All in all it was our best Field Day ever!!! Thanks so much to everyone who attended our Field Day. Looking forward
to next year!!! -- KE4LLW
