2008 ARRL Field Day

07/02/2008 | KP4MQ CW ruled again!

The newly formed Puerto Rico Amateur Radio Society worked it's first Field Day in the Salvation Army central offices in the city of Caguas so we did work as 2F PR. The Team was Daniel Ponce-WP4F, Hector Reyes-WP3ZZ, Jose Lugo-NP3FM, Edgardo Garcia-NP4EG, Javier Quines-WP4DX and yours truly Angel-WP3GW. Guest operators were Renato Bringas-KP4U, Hector Perez-NP4FW and Jose Rivera-KP4JRS.

We used the call KP4MQ in honor of Felix "Felo" Vera Lizardi for his long trajectory in Amateur Radio (he is 93 years old!) as we also gave him a plaque in recognition for it.

We mounted 3 antennas: Buddipole, Hy-gain and a vertical bazooka for 40 meters. Radios, Kenwood TS-2000 and Yaesu-FT897. There were more contacts on CW as always, proving it is of great value still. We also did phone and PSK31 contacts.

Also the Director of the Salvation Army came to visit to see how we were doing (he's on vacation!), and we thank him for allowing us to use the premises.

Hope you enjoy the photos, which say it all. -- WP3GW
