2008 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/24/2008 | K4QF/R "Novice Rover"

Enclosed is an image of my "RAV4ROVIN" platform used for the June 20008 VHF Contest. As this was my first Rover operation, I wanted to check the feasibility of working from near a grid corner that's close to my home QTH. The antenna consists of a single "Lowe's Loop" for 432 MHz, 144 MHz, and 50 MHz, and a pair of the loops stacked for 222 MHz. This permitted lowering the antennas for moving from grid to grid while leaving them mounted to the luggage rack on the roof without even having to disconnect the feedlines.

The "Novice" Rover operation was lots of fun even though I only had a few hours for contesting.
