01/02/2008 | W4RK What a great experience! SKN brings back the excitement for me from 1954, 54 years ago. Great thrill to work so many old timers and hear the great fists with a straight key. Also enjoyed working the Johnson Viking IIs and the Drake Twins. This was a great opportunity to try out my Christmas gift of a vintage E.F. Johnson Straight Key. You can see it in the photo, alongside my Begali Signature Paddles. A great combination. Now the real challenge: get more younger people involved in CW! I calculated the average age of the OPs I worked and it was 63. The oldest OP was 76 and the youngest was 51. Each of us should commit to recruiting at least one new CW OP whose age is under 40. Thanks to all who made my day with the wonderful QSOs in SKN 2008!
