08/18/2007 | W8VPV Our one unique added item this year was the "Cane Pole" antenna. Built and operated by Steve, N8LGP, this was quite a conversation piece. It's a simple metal cane that separates in the middle. With the addition of an insulator and a length of coax it becomes a 2 meter dipole.

This year we turned towards recruitment and training of future Field Day regulars. We have several that will be participants next year when we plan to continue our recruitment and training efforts. We expect to be ready for some serious effort in 2009 when the bands start to really come back (we hope). -- AK8B
