2006 ARRL Field Day

07/21/2006 | NE7WY The Northeast Wyoming Amateur Radio Association moved the Field Day activities to Newcastle, WY this year. The site was located adjacent to Hwy 16 and Hwy 85. Many people from town drove around the site to see what was going on. One carload of teenagers saw the 90 foot cranes and asked if we were bungee jumping. We then introduced them to amateur radio. Several city and county officials were present. We operated 2A from two motorhomes, one camper and one tent-shelter. This year we did not have to shut down because of lightning. Two of our GOTA unlicensed operators made over 50 contacts each. There were 14 club operators present. There were no equipment failures this year. The 40M dipole up in the air 90 feet with the 600 ohm feedline worked great thanks to WY7LL. Thanks to KD7QDM, KD7ZUP and KE7HMK for arrangements. Motorhomes were from KD7QDM and WG7Y. N7QAX provided about 450 feet of mule tape. N7QAX broght his IC-756PRO III. N0WQ brought digital equip. KE7EKA brought the county generator. Many others brought "stuff" and helped operate. A great time was had by all. -- WG7Y
