2006 ARRL Field Day

07/02/2006 | K7JAR K7JAR, club call for the Panoramaland Amateur Radio Club (PARC), operated Field Day 2006 in the mountains near Chewelah, Washington, courtesy of the fantastic site offered for use once again by Joe, N7YPS. PARC operated as a 2A station in Eastern Washington in conjunction with a GOTA station. Weather was perfect and all had a great time operating, eating, and commiserating about ham radio. Operations included 40 meters phone and CW and 20 and 15 meters phone. A triband beam was put up as well as 40/75 meter dipoles supported by tripods made from native lodge pole Pines and perfected by club president Guy, N7YRT. The PARC operation was slanted toward fun, socialization, and good food rather than raw competition. Whether it was eyeball QSOing across the picnic table, helping log for a new operator, or grinding out the actual contacts, everyone present had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Everyone pitched in for the setup on Friday afternoon and tear down Sunday afternoon to help make this year's Field Day a really memorable event. -- K5UJU
