06/28/2005 | WA2GUG Field Day 2005 was again fun; but as usual the best laid plans of mice and men dont work. Murphys law strikes. Again it was a joint efford by RECWA and Queens ARES. This year we had planed on running 160 meters from a kite but we were short handed. We did get to do PSK31 and send emails to the Section manager via Winlink2000. There was some problems setting up the poles for the Dipoles and G5 [Actually broke 1 pole]; but made a few changes and they went up.
The crew was KB2JOE [ex KB2QLE] on 20, N2NSA and WA2GUG on 40 and Packet and KG2V on 80 and PSK31. As usual we ran all the rigs on Battery power and had 2 Batteries for backup on a Solar charge.
We did decide to change the operation from Field Day to FOOD Day. We ate too much. Like the Brooklyn Dodgers would say there is next year and we are looking forward already -- WA2GUG
