2024 ARRL Kids Day - January
Bellevue (Nebraska) ARC and The Science Club at Yates Illuminates partnered to provide a packed day of learning through fun to Greater Omaha youth as young as 4 years old, and to kids (at heart) as wise as 91 years young. We thank everyone who came, young future inventors, innovators, scientists or creatives, with their parents, but particularly the amateur operators Dudley Allen KF0NMD, Terry Gampper N0BXQ, Frank Jozwiak KB0EOR, and Mike Terneus WB0BEE as the volunteer operators and extremely patient coaches nurturing curiosity.
As next steps The Science Club will help youth learn basics of electrical circuits and electronics and radio propagation, learn to make home brew antennas, we'll organize fox hunts, and we'll integrate of course radio in other applied scientific learning opportunities, from wildlife tracking and rescuing to aviation and space research and communications.
We were in luck and even got local TV to come and tell the story to the rest of the local community:

The Science Club meets every other Saturday here. BARC will be back for Kids on the Air Day in June, of course. Meanwhile we are confident that we will get some newly licensed operator parents and maybe even teenagers by then!
A heartfelt thank you!
Adrian Petrescu KF0OHS for The Science Club and Marie Hélène André for Yates Illuminates.
